Information on updated site Harton Archives have now taken over the operation of the HartlandForum.co.uk website. An initial simplification of the site has now been completed as stage one. The next stage will be to rationalise some of the information, update content from past posts and then add new. Hartland Digital Archive will then post information from the extensive archive collection that are of a local history, archaeological, social history, or localised interest. This will be undertaken with the co-operation of The Hartland Society and Hartland Times and other interested parties. The intention is to produce a solid, informative site for local information, not a magazine or blog style, but an invitation to undertake further research in your interests. The style will cover academic articles but will lean towards the nonacademic reader whilst allowing those who wish to advance further. The Hartland Digital Archive, established in 2001 as a Lottery funded project has now digitised c.400,000 page images of records in various forms and is the basis for Harton Archives. Over the ten years a variety of projects, exhibitions, talks and community work has involved in excess of 3000 people. Project partnerships were established with such as University of Exeter, North Devon Athenaeum, N.D.A.S. ,Devon Record Office, The North Devon A.O.N.B., North Devon Museum to name a few. It is intended to make information available in a number of formats for use of researchers, visitors, walkers and businesses. To start this process there is now a Twitter feed running @hartonarchives please feel free to follow. There is no longer funding for this project available, so to help cover the costs of web hosting there are links to such as Amazon within the site.
