THE NATIONAL TRUST IN HARTLAND PARISH Thursday, 21st October 2004 at 7:30 pm Hartland Methodist Church Hall The National Trust Area Warden for Hartland, Justin Seedhouse, will be our guest speaker and he will be giving us an illustrated talk on the land and property here in Hartland under the care of the National Trust.   A LOOK AT CLOVELLY'S PAST IN PICTURES Thursday, 18th November 2004 at 7:30 pm Hartland Methodist Church Hall With the help of Tom Cruse and his superb collection of Clovelly photographs we shall be taking a look at the time when the fishing industry was at its peak at our neighbouring village.   HARTLAND'S TABLETS OF STONE - "Tales from the Churchyard" Thursday, 16th December 2004 at 7:30 pm Hartland Methodist Church Hall As only he can, David Harris will be unearthing fascinating tales waiting to be discovered by studying the tombstones, memorials and gravestones in our churchyard and cemetery.   ST NECTAN'S CHURCH THROUGH THE CENTURIES Thursday, 20th January 2005 at 7:30 pm Hartland Methodist Church Hall Stephen Hobbs and Brian Warmington will be taking a look at St Nectan's at three different periods in its history. Firstly, pre-reformation times with its colour and Catholicism, followed by the Victorian renovation in the late 1940s and then the changes of the early part of the last century. THE STORY OF HARTLAND'S SHOPS THROUGH THE YEARS Thursday, 17th February 2005 at 7:30 pm Hartland Methodist Church Hall In January 1998 Christine Higgins took us on a tour of Hartland, recalling the many shops run from so many of the houses that line Fore Street and The Square. With the advantages now open to us with our projector, Christine will be retracing her steps, with further photographs and documents added and the story now updated to 2005.   OUR PRESIDENT'S STORY Thursday, 17th March 2005 at 7:30 pm Hartland Methodist Church Hall A look at the autobiography of the Reverend Fred. W. Pennington, "From Ploughboy to Priest", with Fred recalling for us some of his memories as we take him on a journey back through the years.   "A LOOK AT SPEKE'S VALLEY" AND AGM Thursday, 21st April 2005 at 7:30 pm Hartland Methodist Church Hall After the business of the Annual General Meeting, we shall be retracing the journey down Speke's Valley as first prepared for the Hartland Society by our President, the Reverend Fred. Pennington, in 1989. Again, revamped for use with our projector, we shall be adding further documents and photographs to the earlier presentation.
